Energy meters measure electricity flow at various points in your installation and form the basis for intelligent control by evcc.
Usage areas
Each device on this page can be used in one or more of the following roles:
- Grid meter (
grid): central grid connection - Solar production (
pv): energy producer - Battery (
battery): home battery - Charger meter (
charge): additional meter at a charging point - Self-regulating consumer (
aux): consumer with its own surplus regulation
Hybrid inverters often serve multiple roles at once — typically solar production, battery status, and sometimes the grid connection. In that case you reference the same device at every relevant role.
Features
- Battery control: Devices with active control unlock further optimisations, e.g. preventing discharge while fast-charging the vehicle. Passive battery control works with every home battery.
